Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
Currently, at the forefront of economic research, empirical microeconomics related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) utilizing economics, big data, and data science is being advanced as cutting-edge research. At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Tsukuba, several faculty members specialize in empirical development microeconomics. By enhancing fields such as labor economics, education economics, environmental economics, public economics, industrial organization, and urban economics into this area of expertise, the university aims to establish a hub for international SDGs research. To strengthen research capabilities at the University of Tsukuba and enhance the International Public Policy Program, Graduate School of Business Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and curriculum of the College of Social Sciences, we are seeking qualified individuals for research positions.
Work content and job description
(1) Teaching subjects such as “Empirical Microeconomics”(in English) at the Master’s Program in International Public Policy and providing research guidance.
(2) Teaching subjects such as “Empirical Microeconomics” (in Japanese or English), at the College of Social Sciences and providing research guidance
(3) Administrative tasks for the programs mentioned above.

Education and Degree Requirements
Ph.D. / Doctor
(1) Holding a doctorate degree (or expected to obtain one by the time of employment).
(2) Having the ability to conduct research in English in the field of study.
(3) Being capable of teaching, conducting seminars, and performing organizational tasks in English at the graduate school level.
(4) Being capable of teaching, conducting seminars, and performing organizational tasks in Japanese and/or English at the undergraduate level.
(5) Have published at least 3 papers. (Dissertation can be counted as one publication.)

This position is based on the system of ITF Assistant Professor at the University of Tsukuba (Please refer to the comments below). Depending on your performance, you may become a tenure-track assistant professor. You will be evaluated for your performance in the fifth year of your appointment based on the University of Tsukuba regulations. If your achievement is satisfactory, your position will convert from fixed-term to permanent.
