Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
We are recruiting 1-2 postdoctoral researchers for the Sugahara Lab at Columbia University Surgery.
The Sugahara Lab (PI: Kazuki N. Sugahara) focuses on the development of drug delivery systems (DDS) for tumors using peptides, as well as basic tumor biology research and translational research using clinical samples. We conduct a wide range of research from the development of novel tumor-specific peptides, such as the iRGD peptide we have been working on, to clinical applications. Our target is tumors in general, with a primary focus on pancreatic cancer. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about their work and enjoy collaborative environments.
Key ongoing projects include:
Development of novel cancer therapies using existing peptides like iRGD
Analysis of the impact of tumor-specific peptides on the tumor environment, including the immune system
Characterization of properties of unpublished peptides and related compounds
Analysis of the role of tissue-penetrating peptide motifs in biological evolution
Work content and job description
The successful candidate will analyze the dynamics of peptides in vivo and their effects on cells and organisms using methods such as biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer/cell biology, immunology, and next-generation molecular profiling. They will also collaborate with experts in computational biology and clinical physicians for joint research projects.
