Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
In Laboratory of Bioinformatics for Bioengineering, Department of Data Science, School of Frontier Engineering, Kitasato University, we are developing informatics methods for analyzing big data produced in life science research. In this recruitment, we seek a project assistant professor who develops informatics methods for designing functional proteins.
https://www.ytksailab.org/index-en.htmlWork content and job description
Applicants will conduct research and development of informatics methods for designing functional proteins such as antibody and enzymes. Specifically, we aim to improve molecular functions (binding affinity, enzyme activity, etc) of a target protein by introducing amino acid mutations. Using experimental measurements of molecular functions as training data, we extract rules to propose amino acid mutations for the improved functions.
The work involves both (1) developing informatics methods for protein design, and (2) applying the methods to real data in collaborative research. The balance between these two will be adjusted depending on the ability of applicants.
We seek applicants from a wide range of research fields including bioinformatics and experimental biology. We also welcome researchers who have strong motivation to change their fields.
