Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Tohoku University of Community Service and Science(TUCSS) is preparing for its transition to a public institution in April 2026 by setting "Strengthening Digital Capabilities" as one of its key pillars.
    The university is seeking a full-time faculty member who can contribute to the development of human resources capable of solving social issues and revitalizing societal dynamics by utilizing OSS, AI, and data science technologies.
    The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the following subjects.

  • Work content and job description

    * Teaching the following lectures in the undergraduate course and the graduate school:
    [1] Programming fundamentals (basic information processing theory using Ruby).
    [2] Computer and information literacy, and data literacy
    [3] Algorithm Education Using C Language
    [4] Seminar course, preferably using information processing technology
    [5] First-year orientation seminar course
    [6] Special seminar course, including advising graduation thesis
    [7] Lectures related to your specialty in the graduate school
    * Particularly, we welcome those who can engage in research and educational activities which involve cooperating with the local community.

  • Description

    1. Ph.D. degree, or equivalent experience of research, education, or social activity.
    2. Research achievements and teaching experience in a subject-related field.
    3.It is desirable to have research experience both in Japan and abroad.
    4. We especially welcome applicants who will actively involve themselves in the administrative work, will fulfill their responsibilities as faculty members, and are motivated to contribute to the research and education for local community or public interest.
    5. In principle all classes are conducted face-to-face. You will need to commute to campus.
    6. Level N1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or equivalent language ability.
