Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, Hiroshima University invites applications for one Associate Professor, Lecturer or Assistant Professor position.
    In education, we are seeking candidates who have a wide range of academic background in Pharmaceutical Core Curriculum and its cutting-edge trend, and be able to teach Physical Pharmaceutical Science.
    In research, we are seeking candidates who can take a core role in the Innovative Drug Discovery Project, and can positively collaborate with other domestic fields and overseas researchers to disseminate research results internationally.

  • Work content and job description

    Faculty members may also be assigned to teaching and/or research activities in other organizations of Hiroshima University and university-wide projects.

    Teaching responsibilities
    (1)Undergraduate level (general education courses): Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students, etc.
    (2)Undergraduate level (discipline specific courses):, Biophysical Chemistry etc.
    (3)Graduate level (master’s programs): Lecture on Physical Pharmaceutical Science, Seminar on Physical Pharmaceutical Science, Research on Physical Pharmaceutical Science, etc.
    (4)Graduate level (doctoral programs): Advanced Seminar on Physical Pharmaceutical Science, Advanced Research on Physical Pharmaceutical Science, etc.
    (5)In addition to the courses listed above, he or she may be asked to teach other general education courses and/or discipline specific courses in other department(s) and graduate school(s).

    Holidays : Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in principle

    Overtime and other explanations : If you are agreeable to the application of the Discretionary Labor System for Professional Work, you are deemed to work for 7 hours and 45 minutes a day. If not, working hours are from 8:30 to 17:00 (from Monday to Friday) and break time is from 12:00 to 12:45.

    Applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:
    (1)Hold a doctorate or an equivalent degree by the time the appointment begins
    (2)Be able to supervise doctoral students in preparation of doctoral dissertations
    (3)Have experience in supervising graduate students in a master’s program in preparation of thesis (Preferable to have experience in supervising graduate students in doctoral program in preparation of dissertation)
    (4)Be able to teach classes and supervise students in English
    (5)Be able to conduct one of the following research projects related to functional molecules/functional polymers
     (i)Synthetic and physicochemical studies of functional molecules and polymers
     (ii)Research related to biomedical applications of functional molecules and polymers
     (iii)Research related to drug delivery systems
     (iv)Research related to medical analysis and bio-imaging
     (v)Research related to regenerative medicine and drug screening models
