Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University invites applications for the academic position of associate professor according to the following description:

  • Work content and job description

    〔Research Area〕
    Transportation and infrastructure planning, and traffic engineering. In particular, research fields on both planning and evaluation of socially preferable transport policy, and the corresponding theoretical research in transport networks, e.g., surface transport network and/or maritime/airline network, based on the characteristic of passenger and commodity flows.

    〔Responsibilities〕
    (Immediately after employment)
    Education and research at the Faculty of Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, and School of Engineering (including General Education Course); and administrative work of committees and other service activities at the Faculty of Engineering and the University.
    (Scope of changes)
    Duties as determined by the University

    〔Subjects in charge〕
    Graduate courses on Division of Engineering and Policy for Sustainable Environment in English and Japanese. Graduate courses on Public Policy School in Japanese.
    Undergraduate courses on Civil Engineering Course and Public Policy and Engineering Course in Japanese and English.
    Department of Socio-Environmental Engineering and relevant general education classes in Japanese.
    Thesis supervision for undergraduate and graduate students.

    Ph.D. / Doctor

    Doctorate or Ph.D. at the time of appointment

  • Work experience

    Ability to supervise research in the above specialized fields in addition to enthusiasm toward teaching and advising students.
    Ability to perform research, education, and administration duties in both Japanese and English languages.
