Description
5. Qualifications:
(1) Applicants should have a doctoral degree or Ph.D.
(2) Applicants must possess advanced knowledge of woody biomass, forest by-products, and non-timber forest products, their sustainable production and utilization, and basic knowledge of forest bioresources including fungi, further improvement of their function to create a sustainable society with excellent research achievements. (see Appendix 4)
(3) Applicants should be able to provide research guidance regarding the above subjects for undergraduate and graduate students in Japanese and English.
(4) Recruited applicant should arrive at this post on the scheduled date.

Appendix
1. For Assistant Professor, initial term of employment is 5 years, and an additional term of employment is limited to an additional 5 years. To qualify for a tenure position, the candidate’s performance during employment will be evaluated.
2. The Laboratory of Forest Bioresource Technology constitutes the Research Group of Forest Science, together with seven other laboratories, namely, Forest Policy, Ecosystem Management, Earth Surface Processes and Land Management, Silviculture and Forest Ecology, Woody Plant Biology, Timber Engineering, and Wood Chemistry.
3. The successful applicant will partly or fully give the lectures listed below, for which the Laboratory of Forest Bioresource Technology is responsible. The laboratory participates in "the Global Education Program for AgriScience Frontiers" and also provides education only in English.
(1) Subjects in the Graduate School of Agriculture: Study on Agriculture Science Ⅰ&Ⅱ, Seminar on Agriculture Science Ⅰ&Ⅱ, Advanced Forest Resources Science, Advanced Forest Products Science, and others.
(2) Subjects in the School of Agriculture: Mushroom Science, Seminar on Forest Bioresource Technology, Conversion Engineering of Woody Biomass, Laboratory Work on Forest Bioresource Technology, Pulp and Paper, Field Practice on Forest Products, General Field Practice on Forest Science I, Field Practice on International Forestry and Graduation Thesis, and others.
(3) Subjects in the General Education: English Seminar “Introduction to Forest Science”, Freshman Seminar “Invitation to Forest Science”, and others.
4. The Laboratory of Forest Bioresource Technology focuses on research for sustainable production and utilization of forest products and non-timber forest products. This laboratory’s activities in education and research widely cover the following fields: biorefinery of woody biomass, biosynthesis and biodegradation of woody biomass components, biological and chemical conversion of forest resources to value-added and functional materials, clarification and application of plant-fungal interactions. Currently, the laboratory has one Professor and one Associate professor as faculty members.
