Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Hige lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We are seeking a postdoc, who will enthusiastically work on neurophysiological study using fruit flies, Drosophila melanogaster. Using this simple model system, our primary goal is to understand how sensory information is flexibly processed and translated into different behaviors depending on the animal's past experience or current context. For more details, please visit our website.

  • Work content and job description

To gain a holistic understanding of the process of learning and memory from the molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity to the circuit and behavioral changes, we employ multiple physiological techniques including in vivo whole-cell patch-clamp recording, two-photon calcium imaging and behavioral assays. There are exciting on-going projects that utilize the combination of these techniques and the complete connectome information available in this system. Please refer to our recent publications listed on our lab website.
