Work content and job description
We are seeking to make one open-rank appointment in Management Accounting (including all sub-disciplines). For this position, we are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can teach the following courses:
1) Management Accounting (in both Japanese and English)
2) Bookkeeping (in Japanese)
3) A graduate-level course related to the candidate’s area of specialization
4) Additional responsibilities may include teaching compulsory courses within the department, general education courses, and SPSF (English-taught degree program) courses.
Faculty members are generally expected to teach five courses per semester, including seminars, graduate courses, and SPSF courses. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise graduate students’ dissertation projects. In addition to teaching and research responsibilities, the position involves contributions to university service and administration, including: work related to Sophia University’s entrance examinations, student recruitment activities (such as visits to high schools, off-site classes, and open campus events), and other duties as assigned by the Sophia School Corporation.

Description
1) Candidates should be actively engaged in research in fields related to Management Accounting, using empirical methods or analytical modeling approaches.
2) Candidates should have more than three research publications (including books and journal articles) related to the area specified above.
3) The language of instruction is both English and Japanese, as noted above. Candidates must also be capable of performing administrative duties in Japanese. Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply.
4) Applicants must fulfill educational, research, and administrative duties in the operation of the department and faculty and participate in admissions duties in the Department.
5) Applicants must also carry out administrative responsibilities required by Sophia University.
