Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Our project conducts research and development to understand the physical mechanisms underlying the occurrence of large earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as to construct their generation scenarios. We are seeking candidates to engage in simulation and data analysis to advance our understanding of megathrust earthquakes including historical earthquakes.

    (Immediately after hiring)
    As a member of the research project "Research and Development for a Comprehensive Understanding of Earthquake Generation and Forecasting", the following duties are expected:
    (1) Research on the physics and generation processes of great earthquakes, including historical events
    (2) Research on earthquake generation mechanisms through simulations and integrated data analysis using tsunami, geodetic, seismic, and other relevant data
    (3) Research on the development of earthquake rupture scenarios related to the above studies

Wages

  • Annual Salary : 4 million yen ~ 7 million yen

    Basic salary (annual amount): 4,456,800-6,876,000 yen.
    *To be determined at the time of employment based on internal regulations (annual salary system).
    *The annual amount is the amount for the employment period from April 1 to March 31 of the following year (one fiscal year), and the amount divided by 12 is paid as a monthly amount.
    *Including fixed overtime allowance: 15 hours equivalent.
    The fixed overtime allowance is 447,600-691,200 yen.
    *The overtime allowance beyond 15 hours per month will be paid separately.
    Commuting allowance paid separately (with an upper limit)
    No retirement allowance
    Bonus may be paid as performance allowance
    Social insurance: Health insurance, employee pension insurance, employment insurance, and workers' compensation insurance

Working hours

  • Working hours :09:00-17:30

    Break time :12:15-13:00

    Holidays : Days off: Every Saturday and Sunday, national holidays, and New Year's holidays (December 29 – January 3)
    *The number of paid vacations granted is based on regulations.

Qualifications

  • Education and Degree Requirements

    Ph.D. / Doctor

    Applicants are required to hold Ph.D. degrees (including who will be able to obtain it before arriving at the post) or to have the equivalent level of academic knowledge and to have enough ability and motivation in order to conduct the above researches.

    Applicants are required to have high knowledge of seismological field, geophysical field or geological field.

    The successful candidate will be employed from the day of commencing the post until March 31, 2026.
